We’re growing!! And looking for a detail-oriented, driven, and enthusiastic candidates to join our team for the position of  Assistant Building Operator located in Parksville, BC for a FULL-TIME; live-in opportunity!

What you will be doing

  • Maintaining the physical integrity of assigned properties through general maintenance and regular cleaning including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of all halls, and laundry room, etc.
  • Respond to maintenance and repair requests from the Building Operator and Property Manager or tenants in a timely fashion
  • Repairing items in vacant and occupied units (minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.).
  • Completing physically demanding work which includes the use of ladders, power tools and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance at the site is completed. Such as annual inspections of fire and life safety systems, HVAC maintenance, annual backflow testing etc.
  • Applying knowledge of building HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security systems and life safety systems. 
  • Review, monitor and inspect all building functions including mechanical and electrical areas and provide direction
  • Working an on-call schedule to respond to emergencies and urgent after-hours requests.

What we look for:

  • Understanding of building management, HVAC, fire protection and security systems, life safety systems, plumbing, pumps, motors, roofs, leasehold construction
  • Proven relevant mechanical/electrical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills
  • Knowledge of regional policies, procedures, and standards; industry standards; municipal by-laws; local utilities' standards; Provincial legislation, including fire codes, building codes, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the provincial Gas Utilization Code, and the Boiler and Pressure Vessels Safety Devices Act.
  • Great time management skills with the ability to prioritize and schedule all work to meet deadlines.
  • Professionalism, sense of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Experience organizing, directing, and supervising work of contracted labour and services.
  • Understand how to effectively use technology including Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, and other software-based programs.
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance required.
  • Building Environmental Systems Certification (Class I & II) BOMI, SMT or SMA an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in an applicable trade or equivalent is required
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in the operation of HVAC equipment, BAS, and FAS in Class A residential complex required.
